Copeland Gym
The Copeland Center opened 2001. This building, the first of its kind in the U.S., was specifically designed to meet the fitness and recreational needs of blind students. The center came about through the vision of the late businessperson and philanthropist, W.B. “Bernie” Copeland, a benefactor and the main donor with matching funds from FSDB. The center has adaptive physical education rooms, and the gym flooring is Canadian northern maple, which is well-suited for the major sport of goalball.
