"I couldn't have written a better script to open our season than our boys' performance tonight," said Head Coach Eric LeFors. "We reached a 52-6 halftime lead before cruising to a 52-20 victory over hosts St. John Lutheran (Ocala)."

The coaches did not know what to expect from this team. The Dragons returned only 6 letter-winners from last season. They were playing a brand new quarterback (Dylan Bellorin-Santos) and a wingback (Roud Valcin) who had never played in a tackle football game before in his life. The offensive line had only one returning starter (Ja'Morien Scott), and he is our tight end. 

The Dragons only had one possession on the night that did not result in a touchdown. FSDB started the game on offense and put together a solid drive that chewed up 6 minutes and culminated in a Valcin 12-yard rushing touchdown with Frantz Valbrun tacking on the 2-point conversion.

Linebacker, Robert McCullough, intercepted a deflected pass on the ensuing defensive possession. Ajani Zahira took a handoff 31 yards to the house the next play. Valcin added the 2-point conversion to make it 16-0. That gave the Dragons all the momentum in the world, and they never let go of it en route to a 52-6 halftime lead. 

"Defensively, we had a "bend-don't-break" performance," said LeFors. SJL was able to make some plays, but they struggled to put it in the endzone. Along with McCullough's interception, Jayden Rosario-Crespo had an interception, too.

The second half featured a running clock, and FSDB only had two offensive possessions. 

The Dragons next game is at Old Plank Christian (Jacksonville) on Thursday, August 31, at 6 p.m. They are the reigning division champs.
