The Dragons traveled down I-95 to face the undefeated Merritt Island Christian (MICS) Cougars in a rematch of last year's quarterfinal playoff game. Although FSDB fell 48-14, the Dragons played with heart and determination, showing impressive resilience against a tough opponent.
A major highlight came in FSDB's opening drive, which lasted an impressive 13 minutes and ended with an
Ochocinco Adams touchdown to give the Dragons an early 6-0 lead.
FSDB won the coin toss and chose to receive, starting their drive at the 25-yard line. The Dragons methodically moved the chains, converting multiple third- and fourth-down conversions to keep the drive alive. As the first quarter ended, they were on the Cougars' 5-yard line, and just two plays into the second quarter, FSDB found the end zone.
While FSDB couldn't consistently replicate their opening drive, they added another touchdown with a Ben Ambrose 8-yard run, followed by a successful two-point conversion on a catch by Robert Essex Jr.
MICS' offense proved difficult to contain throughout the night, but the Dragons remain focused on improving their defensive play moving forward.
Head Coach Eric LeFors shared, "In our first game of the year against a team of that caliber, we found many good things to build on. We'll practice hard and prepare to face City of Life (St. Cloud) next Thursday."
