Cary A. White, Sr.

Was enrolled in FSDB from 1907 until his graduation in 1922.
First Black Deaf graduate from FSDB in 1922.
Worked in many various capacities at FSDB from 1922 to 1968 as a vocational teacher, dorm teacher, carpenter, electrician, cook, farmer, and bus driver.
Was a great role model to Black Deaf students and staff.
Built the farm at Casa Cola near the airport.
Taught students the skills of dairy farming and beef butchering, and delivering the products and supplies to the FSDB school kitchen.
Was a vocational classroom teacher, taught the cognitive-challenged students and served as dormitory teacher in the Black Department.
Served as a chauffeur for the school’s president.
The Cary White Complex for special needs students was dedicated in his honor in 1991.
