Estelle Knighton

  • Held the FSDB Squaws Track and Field Record in 330-yd Run (50.8 seconds) and in 440-yd Relay (55.0 seconds) in 1966 prior to desegregation.
  • Was a sprinter and participated in broad jump and discus throw. Mr. Henry White was the coach.
  • Was on the Black Girls Basketball Team (Squaws) for 4 seasons (1962-63 through 1965-66) during which time she was co-captain leading the Squaws to win many games.
  • Was selected the Female Athlete with Highest Academic Average in 1965-66.
  • Selected as the Most Outstanding Female Athlete in 1964-65.
  • Was chosen to receive the Athletic Association for the Deaf Leadership Award in 1964-65 and 1965-66.
