Tommy Montgomery

Basketball

  • Played varsity basketball under Coach Mike LaMee and varsity track under Coach Hugh Lewis.
  • He made the All-Tournament  team during the 1989 Boys Mason-Dixon Tournament.  
  • 1990 - Honorable Mention on the All-County basketball team with 213 points and 192 rebounds. 
  • His 1991 basketball team won the consolation (5th place) in the Boys Mason-Dixon Tournament.

Track & Field

  • 1st place in High Jump at 6’6” in 1989 and 6’8” in 1990 at the FHSAA State Class “A” Track & Field Meet
  • Broke then-FSDB record in High Jump at 6’9-¼” in 1990.

Football

  • Aside from his great talents in track & field, he was a very good football player. During one game against the top State Class “A” Team, St. John's Lutheran Academy, he played tight end and made 2 touchdowns on the TE reverse plays which Coach Samuels “borrowed” from University of Oklahoma.
  • 1989 - Played Football as Defensive Back with 43 solo tackles plus 20 assists.

Accolades

  • During the 1990 Athletic Banquet, he was selected the Best Defensive Back in Football and Best Field Goal Percentage in Basketball. MVP in Boys Track.
