Basketball

  • Was called the “6th Man” on the 1964 FSDB Basketball Team that won the National Deaf Mythical Prep Basketball by The Deaf American Magazine.
  • MVP leading the FSDB Basketball Team to win the first-time Mason-Dixon Basketball Tournament Championship in 1968.
  • All-Star and Free Throw Champion during the Mason-Dixon Basketball Tournament in 1968.
  • Selected to be honored on the 1st basketball team for the St. Johns River Conference and for the Deaf All-American 1st Team in 1968.
  • After graduating from FSDB in 1968, he continued playing basketball for the Deaf Club. He was selected as an All-Star 16 times in the Southeast Athletic Association for the Deaf (SEAAD). He was the SEAAD all-time leading scorer with 1,200 points.
  • He was inducted in the SEAAD Hall of Fame in 1996.
  • He was on the United States Basketball Team that won the Gold Medal in the 1989 Deaflympics in New Zealand. 

Football

  • Played Quarterback and Free Safety for the FSDB Varsity Football Team in 1966 and 1967.
  • Selected to the St. Johns County All-Conference team in 1967 as a Free Safety.
