Thomas Hines Coleman

Founder of FSDB in 1885. He graduated from SCSDB in 1877 and from then-Gallaudet College (now Gallaudet University) in 1882.
Prior to establishing FSDB, he wrote to Governor W. D. Bloxham in 1882 to help establish the school.
In 1883, Governor Bloxham convinced the legislature to set aside $20,000 toward the goal for the establishment of the school.
In 1883-1884, St. Augustine made the best offer for $1,000 in cash and five acres of land donated by Captain Edward Eugene Vaill. The site of the school was chosen and still standing today.
Chief Teacher at FSDB (1885-1888) and Teacher at SCSDB (1888-1907).
On May 28, 1965, the FSDB Health Care Center (HCC) was dedicated and named after Mr. Coleman.
